TKT Book Clubs

TKT students will be put into groups to discuss their silent reading books. Once a week, each student in the group will reflect on what they have read, and will write a reflection on this blog. This blog will then act as a log of different books, and will provide a snapshot of what students are currently reading, and how they have responded to their books.

The format for the reflections can be found below:

Book: A Series of Unfortunate Events - The Bad Beginning
Author: Lemony Snicket
Reviewer: Miss Bisset
Date: 29.4.16
Pages: 5-9
Review: Today, I read that the Baudelaire children were on Briny Beach when a man appeared. At first they thought he looked very scary, because it was a misty day, but as he came closer, they realised it was Mr Poe. Mr Poe coughed and spluttered then told the children some 'very unfortunate' news - their parents had perished in a house fire, and their whole home was also destroyed. The children were devastated and were taken by Mr Poe to meet their new caregiver - a man they had never even heard of called Count Olaf. They felt very anxious about the idea of living with someone they did not know.
Rating: I give these pages a 5* rating, because they engaged me and described the scene with a lot of detail. I also felt very sorry for the children because of the way the author used emotive language.
